Skip Tracing for Attorneys and Process Servers
For attorneys and process servers, skip tracing means finding a current address and phone number for a person the case depends on: a defendant to serve, a judgment debtor to collect from, an heir to notify, a claimant or witness to reach. Done in batch, it means running every party on a matter list, docket or claimant roster at once instead of searching names one by one.
Where legal teams need current contact data
- Service of process. A complaint can't be served at an address the defendant left two years ago. A current address gives the process server somewhere to start.
- Judgment enforcement. Collecting on a judgment starts with finding the debtor and seeing what else is attached to them, such as bankruptcies, liens and other judgments.
- Probate and estates. Heirs and beneficiaries move. Relatives with their own phones and addresses are often the path to the person you need.
- Mass tort and class actions. Claimant rosters run to thousands of names, and much of the contact data was captured long before notice goes out.
- Witnesses and former employees. Old HR records and incident reports carry the address and number from that time, not today's.
What comes back on each person
BatchIQ runs on credit-header data, the same data tier as the top five providers, not public directories. Five input fields are enough to match: name plus last-known address is the usual starting point, and adding a date of birth raises precision. Each matched record carries up to 270 rows of data, including:
| What you get | Why it matters for legal work |
|---|---|
| Current mailing address | Where to attempt service or send notice |
| Up to 5 phone numbers (98% cell-phone hit rate) | Reach the party or confirm the address before a server goes out |
| Up to 5 email addresses | Another channel for claimants and witnesses |
| Up to 5 relatives, each with phones and emails | A path to the person when their own details are gone |
| Age and deceased verification | Know before you file against, or try to serve, someone who has died |
| Bankruptcy records | An automatic stay may apply; route the matter to the right attorney |
| Lien and judgment records | See who else has a claim against a debtor, and with whom |
Bankruptcy, lien and judgment records come back with who they belong to and who they're with, which helps decide which matters are worth pursuing.

Built for case lists, not one-off searches
- CSV or XLSX in, the same file out. Export the matter list or claimant roster as it is. Your columns come back untouched with the appended data beside them.
- Up to 250,000 rows in five to seven minutes, by bulk upload or API.
- Your file stays yours. BatchIQ never retains or resells uploaded files.
What BatchIQ isn't
BatchIQ is a data provider, not a compliance product or a substitute for legal judgment. Whether a given address supports service, what diligence a court expects before alternative service, and how contact rules apply to your matter are questions for your jurisdiction and your firm. Better data makes that work faster; it doesn't decide it.
Is it the right fit?
BatchIQ is built for firms and servers tracing 1,000 or more records a month, such as mass tort intake, judgment portfolios and high-volume service. If you trace a handful of defendants a month, a per-lookup service will serve you better.
Pricing is per record and set on a short call. The industry standard for comparable data is about $0.20 a row, and users paying that could save $60,000 per million rows or more. More on how batch skip tracing is priced.
